Paal Nilssen-Love

Commissioned works

Drummer, percussionist, gong master, composer and bandleader Paal Nilssen-Love has created brand new music for a brand new band of musicians with strong ties to Western Norway – a new Western Norwegian jazz ensemble! Paal has spent time putting the band together and has narrowed it down to 8 fellow musicians, some of them well-known, others he has never played with before - a completely new and exciting constellation with strong voices, musicians with backgrounds in classical, contemporary music, noise and jazz. Just as snowboarders push the envelope with risky tricks, Paal will push his compositional abilities and those of his fellow musicians to the limit, with the goal being to leave you with the feeling "What on earth just happened?"
